WHAT’S INCLUDED
Covered Animals
Basic coverage includes all wild animals indigenous to your state, county, and local region that are known to cause structural damage. The table below lists covered species, the approved materials required for valid exclusion work, and the materials that will void a claim if used.
Basic Animal Coverage Species
Basic coverage applies to all wild animals indigenous to your state, county, and local region that are known to cause structural damage or infiltrate homes and businesses. Domestic animals, insects, arachnids, and general classified pests are not covered.
One exception worth noting: mice and rats are explicitly included under the basic package, even though they fall under commensal rodents rather than traditional wildlife. Coverage for rodents requires external preventative trapping performed by a local WCO.
Add-On Animal Coverage Species
Specialty coverage is available for large or non-standard species not covered under the basic package, regardless of local population density or regional commonality. Each add-on requires an active Basic Animal Coverage policy. A certified WCO must confirm all claimed damage is biologically consistent with the covered species before a claim is processed. Domestic animals, insects, arachnids, and general classified pests are excluded from all tiers.

Specialty add-on species
Add-on coverage requires an active Basic Animal Coverage policy and must be biologically confirmed by a certified WCO before a claim is processed.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
Approved Material Standards by Species
To maintain warranty validity, WCOs must strictly adhere to the following hardware and installation standards:
| Approved Structural Materials | Unacceptable / Prohibited Materials | |
|---|---|---|
| Raccoons & Opossums | Heavy-gauge metal working is mandatory. Perforated Pest Blok is preferred; sheet tin is permitted. All materials must be mechanically fastened with screws. Foundation vents require perforated Pest Blok (subject to local airflow regulations). Pest Armor. | ¼” or ½” hardware cloth is prohibited (except when overlaid directly on gable vents). |
| Skunks & Foxes | PVC-coated welded wire or Pest Blok required for all large subterranean openings and crawlspaces. Pest Armor. | Standard hardware cloth; Dig Defence. |
| Squirrels | ¼” hardware cloth secured with screws; sheet tin and Pest Blok combinations. Main ridge vent breaches require grated metal or RidgeGuard fastened with rubber-washer screws. Pest Armor. | Expanding foam; unanchored or loose hardware cloth; one-way excluder cones left permanently. |
| Mice, Rats, & Snakes | Silicone/elastomeric sealant backed by hardware cloth or copper mesh/excluder for small gaps. Custom-bent tin or Pest Blok for large gaps/long structural spans. Rat exclusions allow ¼” hardware cloth. Exterior traps/bait stations are required from a local WCO post-seal. | Expanding foam; ¼” or larger hardware cloth (for mice/snakes); ½” or larger hardware cloth for rats. |
| Bats | Heavy caulking/sealant with appropriate mesh/backer. ¼” hardware cloth, tin, and Pest Blok are permitted. | Stand-alone expanding foam. ½” or larger hardware cloth. |
| Rock Chucks & Groundhogs | PVC-coated wire mesh or Pest Blok. | ¼” hardware cloth; Dig Defence. |
| Birds | Approved non-lethal deterrents (e.g., Intimidator flashing units, Opti-Gel discs, Lasers). Vent cleanouts and protective cage installations are fully warrantied under the base package. Shock track, bird wire, or bird netting are also products that may be warrantied. | Expanding foam; standard bird spikes are not insurable. |
| Marten | Custom-cut, form-bent metal Pest Blok or sheet tin. Pest Armor. | ¼” to ½” hardware cloth. |
| Weasels | Pest Blok, sheet tin, or a minimum of ¼” hardware cloth. Caulking with an excluder mesh backer is acceptable. | Expanding foam (used either as a standalone fill or a backing substrate). |
| Lizards | Sealant backed by structural mesh for small gaps. Custom-bent tin or Pest Blok combined with sealant for large transitions. Exterior trapping arrays recommended post-exclusion. | Expanding foam; 1/8” or larger hardware cloth. |
WARRANTY LIMITS
What’s Not Covered
Wyldguard Protection Warranty is a limited express warranty. That means coverage is defined, transparent, and bounded. The exclusions below are not fine print — they are the honest limits of what this warranty can reasonably cover and warrant.

Excluded from all coverage tiers
Work performed with prohibited materials
Any exclusion or repair work completed using prohibited materials for the relevant species will not be covered under the limited express warranty, regardless of when the work was performed. Every species has a defined list of approved and prohibited materials.

Claims filed outside the four-month window
Claims filed more than four months after initial detection may be declared void due to property neglect. All repair costs in that case fall to the property owner.
Single-unit coverage in attached structures
Single-unit coverage within hotels, row homes, duplexes, condominiums, or attached multi-family units is not available. All parties sharing common walls, foundations, or roof spaces must purchase individual or block policies simultaneously.
